For teachers transferring from another Korean workplace:

In addition to the documents above, prepare:

  • Proof of employment (경력증명서) showing name, nationality, birth date, employment start-end dates, and official stamp from your former workplace's principal, director, superintendent, or other valid official.

  • Proof of income (근로소득 원천징수영수증 and 근로소득 지급 명세서)

Please note that immigration requirements can change and this list is thus subject to change. It is in your best interests to have all the above documents ready so that you can be as prepared as possible. Sometimes calling the immigration hotline (1345) can be very helpful for clarifying matters, though what they say may be slightly different from what is requested by the immigration office in some cases.

Renewing your Residence Card (ARC)

When renewing your employment contract, you will also need to make sure your visa remains valid throughout your employment. Your residence card needs to be renewed four months or fewer from its expiry date. The GET Program Manager will review this process at the renewal meeting. You can extend your E-2 visa online or in person at immigration. Visits to immigration for this purpose should be recorded on NEIS as 출장 (business trip), and you should select non-payment by ticking the box 여비지급하지않음. If you need to go to the tax office, or make related trips to get documents for immigration purposes you should do this on your own personal time, as only the trip to immigration itself may be logged on NEIS as 출장 (business trip).
