Contract Terms and Conditions

The terms and conditions of the GET contract are guided by Korean Labor Law as outlined by the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL). Despite some minor variations, the contract for all GETs working across Korea at various MOEs and POEs is virtually the same.

The contract exists to provide you and your school some protections, and outlines the general nature of your working relationship. Both sides are accountable for holding up their end of the contract.

If you feel that some aspect of the contract is not being upheld, it may be due to a misunderstanding or unawareness of the terms. Sometimes schools are not aware of all aspects of the contract as they can differ from the standards applied to Korean workers. Please try to clear up any misunderstandings as politely and professionally as possible. If you are having any further issues with your school with regards to the terms and conditions of your contract, please contact our office so we can assist in clearing up any confusion.

You will be given and should keep a copy of your contract for your records. You may also see a digital copy in the links below. Please review the contract in full before contacting the GET Program Manager for clarifications.

For common questions and concerns regarding Korean Labor Law, please call MOEL on 1350 (press '4' for foreign languages and '1' for English) or see the Facebook group LOFT: Legal Office for Foreign Teachers.

Contract Changes

Contract terms and conditions are reviewed every six months. The contract that applies to you is the one that you signed at the beginning of your contract year. The GET Program Manager will notify renewing teachers of any changes to the contract.
